Game 1: GCW 2s v AHC 1s

AHC started off strong and confident, with positive setups resulting in the first score of the game from Paul. AHC seemed very comfortable in the first quarter but as the game progressed into the end of the second quarter some cracks became apparent, giving rise to GCWs equaliser. Half time brought stiff competition for the lads as GCW shook off their initial display, launching structured attacks producing two further goals. Despite many chances Aberdeen struggled to regain control, it wasn’t meant to be….Final score GCW 3 - 1 AHC .
Captain Paul shared his thoughts: “we started really well, executed the plan as discussed and recycled the ball with great patience. Also unlike us we looked dangerous in the D getting shots and shorts for most entries. Unfortunately, we couldn’t keep up that level and some other patience in our build up and loss of shape resulted in the game going away from us, some good saves from their keeper ensured it wasn’t to be our day but plenty of positive to take away.

Player of the match: Ariff

Game 2: GCW 3s v AHC 2s

As it was in the first game, AHC were quick to settle in this game from the get go. Abd commanded the back line which shut down GCWs early attempts to get into the D. Aberdeen consistently cleared, pressed on, setting up the offence and delivering lots of opportunities to allow Callum to come face to face with GCs keeper time after time, narrowly just missing the goal! A great game from both sides. It was still 0-0 nearing the end of the game……and then in the closing 5 minutes, GCW advanced, scored on a rebound after Cameron stopped the first direct shot on goal, unluckily the second touch caught him off guard, hitting the backboard. Final score GCW 1-0 AHC.
Interim Captain Abd praised the guys efforts “a really good game from everyone, formation and press was set up really well. Well done” .Huge improvements for the M2s in their plays, passing and general performance, by comparison to the opening games of the season.
Sadly the result didn’t reflect the team achievements.💪

Cup dreams were dashed away this afternoon by the talented ladies from Glasgow. Clydesdale Western 4s saw, came and conquered the match with a 0 -10 victory. Credit to our AHC development team for their first heavy weight game against an experienced and well established side. Captain Emily commended the AHC ladies “really proud of the effort everyone put into the match today. it was really tough but we showed some great defensive play!. It was really good learning experience. We have a few things to take away which we will work on in training and improve on before our next match”.

Players of the match went to Bryony & Nic for their tireless efforts to contain the unrelenting attacks from Clydesdale.

Aberdeen were leading by 1-0 with an early goal from Nyall in the first quarter. The guys seemed more settled in their set up and passes compared to their previous games . Unfortunately Gordo’s evened up by the end of the first half, giving the guys a need to review their plays. Winds were high, as the goalposts were lifted out of position a few times but it didn’t deter the players. Callum L had a chance at a goal from a PC but failed to hit the back board from the top so it was disallowed. It was Gordonian’s PC that allowed a clinical touch to up the stakes with another score. Some more opportunities for AHC but passes seemed to wander off course. A final goal from the yellows sealed their victory, finishing AHC 1-3 Gordonian’s.

Well autumn is well and truly here, and so the games continue. The men’s 2s and the ladies bring a doubleheader on Sunday. Both home games but with one difference the ladies will be playing in the first round of the Scottish Hockey Women’s Scottish Cup ‘25/26.
